The 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' producer appears to be wiping tears from her eyes while she and her actor husband dine out in Malibu with their 32-year-old son.

AceShowbiz - Rita Wilson got emotional on a rare public outing with her troubled son Chet Hanks. The actress/producer looked teary and upset while having dinner with her husband Tom Hanks as well as one of their sons in Los Angeles over the weekend.

On Sunday night, September 4, the family reunited for dinner at Tra Di Noi restaurant in Malibu. However, the event was far from a joyful one as Rita seemingly got tearful during the tense dinner.

In pictures obtained by Daily Mail, the 65-year-old actress appeared to be wiping tears from both her eyes as Tom sat across from her. Meanwhile, Chet sat beside her and was pictured checking his phone as well as smoking a vape at one point. The trio was joined by another unidentified woman at the table.

They appeared to have a serious conversation with Rita glancing over at her son a number of times. The family later departed the restaurant together in one car, with Chet sitting in the backseat.

Rita wore an off-shoulder black top and accessorized with a silver necklace during the night out. Tom, meanwhile, opted for a neat look with a dark navy shirt, black pants and brown loafers. As for Chet, he dressed casually in a black tank top that showed off his tattooed arms.

Chet, born Chester Marlon Hanks, has been making headlines for the wrong reasons, from his brushes with the law and criticism of his famous father. Back in February, he threw Tom under the bus as saying in a YouTube video that he didn't have a role model growing up. He likened living as the Oscar-winning's son to the double-edged sword.

In April, the 32-year-old actor came under fire for culturally appropriating accents. He, however, refused to apologize for it, saying in an interview for Entertainment Tonight's "Ziwe", "Nah. I don't feel like I've truly done feel like I've truly done anything offensive, so I don't."

When posting Mother's Day tribute to Rita in May, Chet poked fun at himself as he called himself "the only hell my momma ever raised."
