AceShowbiz - Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is facing fresh charges in his RICO indictment. The rapper, who has been in jail since he was arrested in May, has been slapped with additional charges involving a machine gun.
According to a report from WSBTV, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office has filed a new indictment in the RICO case against the YSL Records founder. The fresh filing reportedly "includes all 28 defendants from the May indictment."
However, the new charges are only against Thugger and four other defendants, including Yak Gotti. The fresh charges are a new gang charge, new drug charges, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a machine gun.
Many of the new charges stem from the search of Young Thug's home in Buckhead, Atlanta on the night of his arrest. Prosecutor Don Geary says two other defendants, including Yak Gotti, face machine gun charges. All have pleaded not guilty.
While the new indictment still focuses on the YSL collective, the District Attorney's office "believes these charges add to the prosecution's claim that Williams performed for years as a leader of a criminal street gang."
Young Thug is among 28 men charged in a 56-count Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) indictment, which also involves Gunna. The Grammy Award-winning artist has been booked into Fulton County Jail on charges of Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity.
His attorney was previously confident that his client will be acquitted on all charges. "I'll tell you the response to any allegation; Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever," Brian Steel said after the rapper's arrest. He went on declaring, "We will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him."
