AceShowbiz - Saweetie has opened up more about what led her to shave her head. When speaking on Kevin Hart's "Hart to Heart", the "Tap In" hitmaker said she made her bold decision after learning how to meditate, which brought her closer to her "higher self."
"I felt like, in quarantine, I had time to do a lot of stuff like self-reflection," the 29-year-old, whose real name is Diamonte Quiava Valentin Harper, told the host. "I learned how to meditate, and through meditation, I've had access to my higher self. And that gained me a whole new experience.
Saweetie went on to explain, "And when I did that I wanted to start fresh. And I did my research, and I heard where I read, that hair holds a lot of energy." She then added, "So, it's essentially the metamorphosis of Saweetie and Diamonte, caterpillar into butterfly."
Saweetie has previously addressed the matter. During an interview with Power 106 on February 24, she shared that meditation played such a major role in her decision to cut off her hair "because I just found so much clarity within myself."
"I wanted to start over and I did research about hair and hair holds a lot of energy. And I really wanted to just feel new and fresh with this new music," the ex-girlfriend of Quavo noted. "I won't say new me. But elevated me. I really just wanted to start over again."
Asked to give a definition of "elevated Saweetie," the "Icy Girl" hitmaker replied, "She meditates, she's centered, she has clarity, she knows what she wants, she puts her foot down." She went on to elaborate, "I feel like before I discovered meditation, everything was, 'Yes yes yes, I'll do it.' "
