Drake has unleashed a new music video for "Sticky". The Canadian hip-hop star released the Theo Skudra-directed visuals on Tuesday, August 2, more than a month after he dropped his latest album "Honestly, Nevermind".
The clip showcases footage of Drake's trip to Montreal, Miami, Sweden and Saint-Tropez. Fellow rappers like Lil Baby and Future also appear in the video. As the clip transitions, the "God's Plan" hitmaker is seen rapping inside an off-road Maybach designed by the late Virgil Abloh.
"Sticky" appears as one of the tracks off "Honestly, Nevermind", which arrived on June 17. The surprise album, which follows his September 2021 album "Certified Lover Boy" and is dedicated to the late fashion designer Virgil, only has one feature from 21 Savage.
The new set, unfortunately, was faced with criticism. "I thought Drake was finna rap his a** off. He gave us Forever 21, Hot Topic, H&M a** music," one person argued on Twitter, while another quipped, "Drake got my hips swaying like a bad b***h." A third opined, "I can see why this album is named honestly, nevermind, that's exactly what he said when it was done."
Upon learning of the complaints, Drake, who has postponed his highly anticipated "Young Money Reunion" show due to his second COVID-19 diagnosis, responded through an audio clip, "It's all good if you don't get it yet. That's what we do. We wait for you to catch up." He added, "We're already here though, we caught up already. On to the next."
Drake managed to prove haters wrong though. "Honestly, Nevermind" stole the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, marking the rap star's 11th No. 1 on the chart. It earned 204,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending June 23, according to Luminate.
