AceShowbiz - Amber Portwood is left "heartbroken" by the outcome of her custody battle with ex Andrew Glennon. After she lost custody of their 4-year-old son James, the "Teen Mom" star declared that she won't "stop fighting" for her kids.
"I've worked so hard to better myself and improve my relationships with my children," the 32-year-old said in a statement. "While I've always been candid about my past substance abuse and struggles with mental illness, a person should have the chance to redeem themselves and not be tethered to their problems from the past."
"I've spent years rebuilding bridges and did everything that was required of me, including submitting 21 negative drug tests and undergoing multiple psychological evaluations," the TV personality continued. "If your road has not been perfect, but you've worked hard to become a better, more stable and caring person today, keep moving forward as I will. I'll never stop fighting for my children who I love more than anything."
During a Wednesday, July 27 court ruling, a judge granted Andrew sole legal and primary physical custody of James. The toddler, who is currently living in Indiana, will be moving to California to live with his dad.
As for Amber, who is also mother to 13-year-old Leah with ex Gary Shirley, she has been granted overnights under the new custody arrangement. The Sun further reported that the agreement will be phased in incremental time frames.
Amber will start having three days of visitation including overnights in California first. In the following month, Andrew will bring James to Indiana.
Amber and Andrew dated from 2017 to 2019. The pair have been entangled in a custody battle for years since the "16 and Pregnant" alum was arrested for domestic battery. She allegedly wielded a machete at her now-ex and threatened suicide in 2019.
