Cops are called to help the 'Oops!... I Did It Again' songstress when her white Mercedes is blocking the highway's third lane of traffic because it runs out of gas.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears has police to thank for saving her from a scary situation. The pop star was rescued by cops after she ran out of gas during a late-night drive on one of Los Angeles' busiest freeways.

On Tuesday, July 12, police received a report of a white Mercedes blocking the third lane southbound on the 101, just north of Balboa Blvd around 10 P.M., according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) report. They responded to the scene "due to the dangerous time of night."

When officers arrived, Britney was seated in the backseat of a Good Samaritan's car, which was parked in the second lane of traffic next to the singer's Mercedes. The 40-year-old "related to the officers her vehicle ran out of gas" and her car quit in the middle of the freeway.

Once the California Highway Patrol got traffic stopped, Britney got back in the passenger seat of her car and an officer steered it while it was pushed off the freeway to safety. "Once in a safe location, Mrs. Spears related she was OK and thanked CHP officers for the help," the report said. "Officers waited with Mrs. Spears until private assistance arrived."

It is believed that her husband Sam Asghari came to pick her up at the scene a short time later. A source later assured PEOPLE, "She is fine," after the traffic emergency.

Britney's fans may remember that the singer got back in the driver's seat in July 2021, after revealing that she was not allowed to cruise with him under her "abusive" conservatorship. At the time, the "Hold It Against Me" songstress was cruising around Los Angeles in her white Mercedes with her then-boyfriend Sam.

Back in April of this year, the Grammy Award-winning artist also ran into trouble when driving around in California. She was reportedly pulled over by the Highway Patrol and slapped with a speeding ticket after she drove at "unsafe speed." The issue may have been resolved as she was scheduled to appear in court on May 3 for the traffic violation.
