AceShowbiz - Steve Burton filed for divorce from estranged wife Sheree, who is currently pregnant, after 23 years of marriage. It has been reported that the "General Hospital" alum cited "irreconcilable differences" in his papers.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Steve listed March 1 as their official date of separation. A rep for the "Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem" star also confirmed to PEOPLE that he had filed for divorce.

The filing arrived two months after the actor shockingly announced that he and the 47-year-old fitness pro were no longer together. "I wanted to clear something up, Sheree and I are separated," so he declared in an Instagram Story in May.

The 52-year-old actor went on to say, "She recently announced that she's expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve." He referred to their children Makeena (18), Jack (16) and Brooklyn (7).

Sheree, who tied the knot with Steve in 1999, previously revealed her pregnancy. Alongside a photo of her side profile holding her baby bump on her Instagram Story, she wrote, "Life sure is full of surprises!" She, however, didn't offer more details about her pregnancy or the identity of the father.

Back in January, Sheree shared a cryptic message via Instagram about mistakes, which many speculated were in reference to her marriage. "If you could go back, what would you tell your younger self? I would have said.. Follow your passions.. People will hurt you, but always be kind and take the high road," the nutrition coach said at the time.

"Don't be afraid to fail or try new things.. Learn from your mistakes because you will make mistakes..it's ok!" she added. "You are strong, brave, beautiful and capable of anything you put your mind to. Life is short, so live it and love everyone. I hope your day was beautiful."
