AceShowbiz - Elon Musk's ex-wife appears to support their daughter's decision to change her name. Justine Wilson, who was married to the Tesla CEO from 2000 until 2008, has declared that she is "proud" of one of her twins after Vivian asked to drop her father's last name.
On Monday, June 20, Justine shared her conversation with one of her twins. " 'I had a weird childhood,' my 18 year old said to me. 'I can't believe I'm as normal-seeming as I am,' " the Canadian author wrote.
The 49-year-old mother of six added that she told her child, "I'm very proud of you," to which the child replied, "I'm proud of myself!" She didn't mention which of her twin children she had the conversation with, but her tweet arrived after Vivian decided to change her name.
As reported before, Elon's trans daughter, who was born Xavier Alexander Musk, filed papers in superior court of California, Los Angeles on Saturday, April 18, one day after her birthday on April 17, to legally change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. The change reflects her new gender identity as a female and hints at a rift with her father.
In the court documents, Vivian states the reason for the requested formal change as "Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form." Vivian wishes to adopt her mother's last name instead.
Future proceedings on the case are scheduled for June 24 at the Santa Monica, Los Angeles courthouse.
Elon has not directly responded to Vivian's decision to drop his last name, but he has declared his love to all his children on the same day Vivian filed the papers. "I love all my kids so much," the 50-year-old tweeted on Saturday.
Elon previously has also expressed his stance on the transgender issue. Back in July 2020, he tweeted, "Pronouns suck." However, in December of the same year, he explained, "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are esthetic nightmare."
Elon and Justine share six children together, including twins Vivian and Griffin. Their firstborn, a son named Nevada Alexander, died of sudden infant death syndrome at just 10 weeks old in 2002. Justine later gave birth to triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006. Elon also has a child, a son named X AE A-XII, with his former girlfriend Grimes.
