The Australian actor, who first tested positive back in December 2021, is forced to miss upcoming performances of his hit Broadway show 'The Music Man'.

AceShowbiz - Hugh Jackman has COVID-19 one more time. Just one day after performing "The Music Man" at the 2022 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12, the actor took to his social media account to announce that he had contracted the virus.
"I've frustratingly tested positive for Covid. Again," Hugh wrote on his Instagram page alongside a video of him breaking the sad news. As he was forced to miss upcoming performances of "The Music Man", the star noted, "My standby, the amazingly talented @maxmclayton will step in for me."
He went on to share, "What's most annoying is I don't get to see him perform! I've said it before, and will say it a million times more … Maxi and all the standbys, swings and understudies around the world, you are the true heroes of theater. You give life to the saying 'the show must go on'."
Max Clayton will be performing the role of Professor Harold Hill alongside Sutton Foster, in all performances of Meredith Willson's musical comedy from June 14-21.
Addressing the matter, producer Kate Horton said in a statement, "Once again, standbys and understudies save the day and, in this case, it's Max Clayton to the rescue." She added, "We're excited to see him perform alongside the wonderful Sutton Foster and we wish Hugh a speedy recovery."
This marks the second time for Hugh to have COVID-19. The "Logan" actor first tested positive in December 2021. At the time, the actor shared, "Hey, good morning, so I just wanted you to hear it from me that I tested positive this morning for COVID. My symptoms are like a cold. I have a scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose but I'm fine and I'm just gonna do everything I can to get better ASAP and, as soon as I'm cleared, I'll be back up on stage heading to River City. So, just wanted you to hear it from me. Please, stay safe, be healthy, be kind."
Some "The Music Man" performances were canceled before the actor returned to the stage. Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, the Broadway show features choreography from Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle.
