Josh Brolin Gets Candid About What Terrifies Him the Most

The 'Dune' star makes the admission when talking about being a father to 33-year-old Trevow, 28-year-old Eden, 3-year-old Westlyn and 16-month-old Chapel, his four children from two marriages.

AceShowbiz - Josh Brolin's biggest fear is being a bad parent. Having shared 28-year-old Eden and 33-year-old Trevow with first wife Alice Adair as well as daughters 3-year-old Westlyn and 16-month-old Chapel with current partner Kathryn Boyd, the "Avengers: Endgame" actor revealed the things that terrify him the most are messing up as a father and "not living."

"Not parenting well. That scares me, because I'm crazy about my children," the 54-year-old actor confessed. "I have a 33-year-old, a 28-year-old, a three-year-old and a one-year-old. Basically, my entire adult life has been about parenting. And what scares me is the idea of not living, this gift that we've been given, to its fullest extent. That terrifies me, actually."

Before the birth of baby Chapel on Christmas Day 2020, the "Dune" star admitted though he was thrilled about the new arrival because he loves the company of youngsters, he was feeling "appropriately nervous" about becoming a dad again.

"I'm always excited about kids. I prefer being around kids. You know, they have the imagination. They're fun," he said. "I've heard other people be like, 'Kid's sitting there, he's staring at nothing, he's slobbering, like, what's the point?' The point is to sit there and slobber with him. That's the point."

In a separate interview, Josh recalled the conversation he had with eldest daughter Eden about what she remembered about his parenting. "My daughter said something recently she goes - just totally the most humbling moment I've had in parenting - she said, 'The kids won't remember what they did, but they'll sure as hell remember the reaction.' And I was like, 'Oh wow,' " he said.

"No, but it's cool to be able to bounce things off them," he continued explaining why he asked his adult children for feedback during the chat for the "Armchair Expert" podcast. "And then you get the truth and you go, 'OK, now I'm an older dude,' and I kind of deal with it this way, and I've mellowed out."
