AceShowbiz - Ed Sheeran has treated fans to a new Lil Baby-assisted song, "2step". The track was released on Friday, April 22 along with its official music video that sees him and the rapper dancing in the Ukrainian streets before Russia began its invasion.
The footage shows Ed wandering the streets of Kyiv at night before hundreds of strangers gather and dance together at an intersection. Baby later joins in while rapping, "Sun comin' up when we walk out, we lost the track of time/ Everything that I'd been dealin' with ain't even crossed my mind/ I don't see nobody in here but us, for real, for you I'm blind/ We go anywhere, it don't take much for us to catch a vibe."
In the beginning of the clip, the British singer shares a message that reads, "I filmed the video for '2step' in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine before the devastating acts of violence started to take place." He further notes, "It was my first time visiting the country and I felt so welcomed during my stay there - everyone from the production crew to the many people I met across my days off."
"Ukraine is a proud and resilient country and I'm grateful to have had the chance to film my video there," the Grammy-winning musician continues. "I stand with Ukraine and will be donating my record royalties from YouTube streams of the video to the DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal."
In its own message, the video’s Ukrainian production company, Radioaktivefilm, states, "This video really reminds us of the best of times; it was the last video we did before our world fell apart." It adds, "Watching it gives us some normality and happiness, and we hope you enjoy this video as much as we do right now."
The "2step" remix serves as the fifth single of Ed's latest album, "=". The project, which arrived in October 2021, also features "Bad Habits", "Shivers", "Overpass Graffiti" as well as "The Joker and the Queen" ft. Taylor Swift.
