AceShowbiz - Joe Rogan has finally spoken up on the ongoing controversy regarding COVID-19 misinformation on his Spotify podcast. The comedian, who has often shared his unbased claims about coronavirus including urging heathy youths not to get vaccinated, issued the response via Instagram on Sunday, January 30.

"These podcasts are very strange because they're just conversations," Joe said in a video. "And oftentimes I have no idea what I'm going to talk about until I sit down and talk to people. And that's why some of my ideas are not that prepared or fleshed out because I'm literally having them in real time, but I do my best and they're just conversations, and I think that's also the appeal of the show. It's one of the things that makes it interesting. So I want to thank Spotify for being so supportive during this time, and I'm very sorry that this is happening to them and that they're taking so much from it."

The former "Fear Factor" host believed the controversy arose after he featured guests Dr. Peter McCullough and Dr. Robert Malone, who are known for promoting unsubstantiated claims related to the COVID-19 pandemic on "The Joe Rogan Experience", according to fact-checking organization Science Feedback. Joe said he wanted to talk to those men, because they are "highly credentialed, very intelligent, very accomplished people, and they have an opinion that is different from the mainstream narrative. I wanted to hear what their opinion is."

The 54-year-old, who agrees with Spotify's decision to add a disclaimer, however, has a problem with the term "misinformation." He argued that "many of the things we thought of as mission a short while ago is now thought of as fact," including some that are not being promoted by the mainstream media, including the effectiveness of vaccines against contracting the virus and the effective of cloth masks.

Still, Joe admitted there are things that he could do to better his show. "If there's anything that I've done that I could do better, it's having more experts with differing opinions right after I have the controversial ones," he promised.

"I would most certainly be open to doing that. And I would like to talk to some people who have differing opinions on the podcasts in the future. I do all the scheduling myself and I don't always get it right," he added. "I will do my best to try to balance out these more controversial viewpoints with other people's perspectives so we can maybe find a better point of view."

After Joe posted the video, many showed their support to him in the comment section. One in particular was Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who praised the UFC color commentator, "Great stuff here brother. Perfectly articulated. Look forward to coming on one day and breaking out the tequila with you."

Joe issued the statement after Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Nils Lofgren removed their music from Spotify in response to misinformation on Joe's podcast. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also expressed their concerns over the spread of COVID-19 misinformation on the platform.
