Many fans of the late King of Pop are upset after hearing the 49-year-old record producer comparing the 1982 masterpiece to The Weeknd's new 16-track album.

AceShowbiz - Timbaland has landed in hot water over his recent remark. The "Apologize" artist was called disrespectful by Michael Jackson's fans after he likened The Weeknd's "Dawn FM" to the late star's 1982 album "Thriller".

The 49-year-old record producer first praised the Canadian crooner during an Instagram Live. "This album different y'all. This s**t right here on some Thriller s**t," he first said of the new effort.

"Trust me when I tell you and the way he dropped this s**t - yo! Congrats. This s**t is amazing," the singer/rapper further gushed. "This album is beyond great. We need a vinyl to this."

Unfortunately, Timbaland's comment didn't sit well with fans of the King of Pop. "I f**ks with Timbaland but this type cappin is nuts and disrespectful to Michael jackson thriller," one person in particular argued. "Timbo wyling."

Another person tweeted, "Timbaland gushing about how Weeknd's new joint is some 'Thriller s**t' sent me. I was largely unmoved three tracks in and are in no rush to get back to it." A third added, "Timbaland saying stupid s**t like Abel's new album is like 'Like Thriller' when there ain't even nothing on there better than this part of the 'Bad'."

The criticism didn't stop there. More came forward with one writing, "Timbaland is arguably top 3 greatest producers of all time, but he need his a** beat for comparing The Weeknd's new album to Thriller…"

"Thriller" was released in November 1982. The record, which served as MJ's sixth solo album, spent a record 37 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart. It produced seven Top 10 singles, including the title track, "The Girl Is Mine", "Human Nature", "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin" as well as "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)".

As for The Weeknd's "Dawn FM", it arrived on Friday, January 7. The 16-track set featured collaborations from Quincy Jones, Jim Carrey, Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne among others.
