The former California governor and his ex-wife are officially divorced after a sitting judge signs it off following a very complicated property settlement agreement.

AceShowbiz - Another celebrity couple's long and drawn-out divorce has finally come to an end before the end of the year. As Dr. Dre and Nicole Young have reached a $100 million settlement, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have finalized their own divorce.

The former California governor and his ex-wife are officially divorced after a sitting judge signed it off on Tuesday morning, December 28 in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to reports, the divorce was actually finalized by a private judge earlier this month, but it needed to be signed off by a sitting judge.

As for why it took over ten years, TMZ claims that a lack of motivation and a very complicated property settlement agreement kept the divorce from being finalized all these years. Details of the property settlement are kept confidential, but a source says the former spouses get pretty much equal of their estimated $400 million assets as it is noted that the exes did not have a prenuptial agreement in place.

Arnold and Maria, who wed in 1986, called an end to their relationship in 2011 after 25 years of marriage. In the wake of their split, it was revealed that the "Terminator" star had secretly fathered a son with a former employee in their household, Mildred Patricia "Patty" Baena.

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," he said in a statement at the time. His son with Patty, Joseph Baena, was born on October 2, 1997.

Arnold and Maria have maintained a friendly relationship since their breakup and they shared custody of their two youngest children, who are all adults now. They have four children together, Katherine, 32, Christina, 30, Christopher, 24, and actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, 28.

Arnold has been dating physical therapist Heather Milligan, who is 27 years his junior, since 2013.
