AceShowbiz - FX has treated fans to a Christmas gift which is coming in the form of a new teaser trailer for "Atlanta". Released on Saturday, December 25, the new video of the acclaimed comedy series previews Earn and his friend having a successful yet wild European tour.
The teaser trailer opens with Donald Glover's Earn, Alfred/Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie Beetz) trying to meet Will, only to have a woman opening the door for them. "I don't know what you're saying," Earn says while being confused.
The new clip also hints at the cast traveling to Europe as Paper Boi embarking on a tour. Additionally, it previews how the characters deal with cultural differences that lead them to comedic misunderstandings and typically-surreal encounters.
"Season three finds Earn (Glover), Alfred/Paper Boi, Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour," the official synopsis from FX reads. "The group navigate their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to."
Of the upcoming new season, which arrives almost three years after season 2 concluded, FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier said in a statement, "We are thrilled to have 'Atlanta' back with a new season on March 24th." He continued, "Once again, Donald Glover, the producers and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes 'Atlanta' so great."
The delay for season 3 was initially because of Glover's busy schedule. The actor, who is also known by the stage name Childish Gambino, released his fourth studio album in 2020. He also wrote and produced 2019's "Guava Island" musical film in addition to lending his voice for Simba in Disney's 2019 "The Lion King" remake.
The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the new season as well as season 4 even further. The production on both seasons for the series, which earned 14 Emmy nominations for its sophomore season, could only begin this year in Europe in London, Paris and Amsterdam.
Season 3 of "Atlanta" is scheduled to premiere on FX on March 24, 2022. It will also be available on Hulu the next day.
