Gushing over Astrid in an Instagram post, the 'Bachelor in Paradise' alum calls his fiancee 'such a champ she snapped into mama bear mode and never skipped a beat.'

AceShowbiz - Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt experienced a health scare after their newborn baby tested positive for COVID-19. Kevin, who welcomed son August with fiance Astrid in mid-November, took to his Instagram account to announce that their baby is currently hospitalized.

"Tough week for @thewendtgang," so the "Bachelor in Paradise" alum wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, December 21. "This is an appreciation post for the best mother and teammate there is. Our family has covid and it is not taking it easy on any of us. Astrid had a terrible flu followed by Auggy getting a fever, which after being tested is covid as well."

Further detailing the health scare, the 37-year-old added, "August was admitted to the hospital and seeing him sick and in pain at 4 weeks old breaks our hearts."

Their little one was not the only who's ill as Kevin revealed that he "got very sick yesterday and today is my worst yet, so I couldn't go in the hospital, not even to bring Astrid dinner, and because of the new variant and the unknown around transmission, I've been staying clear of my little man until my symptoms are gone. We are in isolation until after Christmas."

Gushing over his fiancee, Kevin went on to note, "@astridloch is such a champ she snapped into mama bear mode and never skipped a beat. While very sick she did everything and more a great mother does. This week reassured me 2 things. August is a strong boy (IVF so he's the best we got lol) and Astrid was born to be a mom. Thanks, hun, for being the mother I knew you would be, already."

Astrid and Kevin welcomed their first child together on November 20. "November 20th 2:02am @astridloch made my dreams come true," Kevin wrote in an Instagram post alongside a picture of him holding the newborn. "She is my absolute hero for everything she went through the last 2 days in the hospital, and the last 2 years doing everything it took to get this perfect munchkin into the @thewendtgang. I never thought a love like this existed. #ivfbaby #ivf."

As for Astrid, the new mom called their little bundle of joy her "whole world." Posting a sweet snapshot of their newborn, she noted, "Born 11/20/2021 & finally home with the rest of the @thewendtgang. Sorry to keep you all waiting, just had to soak this moment up for ourselves first. #babywendt #ivf #ivfbaby #infertility."

The couple first announced news of their pregnancy on Mother's Day in May. "A dream come true," Astrid wrote at the time. "One of the first conversations @kevin.c.wendt and I had was about how we both loved kids and couldn't wait to have our own. When I think about Kev holding our little angel for the first time my heart flutters. Even in my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined how amazing this would all feel."

She also opened up about their fertility struggle. The reality star said that she and Kevin "struggled with fertility and conceiving naturally," adding that it was "the toughest thing we've ever been through." She continued, "To all the couples trying to get pregnant, my heart is with you. We know first hand how hard it can be to see these kinds of posts and feel sad & discouraged. But today is finally about some good news & we hope you can enjoy it with us."
