AceShowbiz - NBA Youngboy is comfortable with his new look. The 22-year-old rapper gets dramatic makeover in his music video for new single "Black Ball" as he dons black lipstick and eye makeup. He also has the words "Rock" and "Peace" written on his cheeks.
"I like painting my face, putting makeup on," so the hip-hop artist claimed in a new interview with DJ Akademiks. "I like to look in the mirror and see everything black … like my eyes. That's one hundred percent real! That's me being myself."
"I feel comfortable that way," he explained. "That's some s**t from MAC [Cosmetics] I made my engineer go buy. It give me like the goth feeling, like rockstars."
The Baton Rouge native, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, reinvented himself while he was under house arrest following his release from jail in October.
He released a new album "Sincerely, Kentrell" during his confinement. It debuted atop Billboard Hot 200, marking his fourth No. 1 debut in the U.S. He also became the third rapper, after Tupac Shakur and Lil Wayne, to score a chart-topping album while incarcerated.
The MC is facing drug and weapon charges. He was granted a home detention under strict conditions. He is required to wear a GPS monitor, submit drug tests regularly, and stay in Utah. No one is allowed to stay at the residence with him except for his family and he's barred from coming near guns.
He was arrested in March after trying to flee when officers attempted to stop a vehicle he was in to serve him with a federal warrant. He took off on foot, leading police to bring in a K-9 to help locate him.
He was initially denied bond as judge called him out for his inclination "toward reckless, illegal, dangerous behavior." He was eventually granted a $1.5 million bail and released to house arrest after spending seven months behind bars.
