Judas Priest Prepping to Resume Tour as Guitarist Is Recovering After Near-Fatal Gig

The Rob Halford-fronted band have rescheduled the tour dates which they were forced to call off to allow guitarist Richie Faulkner to recuperate following a scary health issue.

AceShowbiz - Judas Priest are heading back out on tour after guitarist Richie Faulkner almost died onstage at a festival in September (21).

The rocker was performing with the band at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky when his aorta ruptured and he only just made it to hospital in time for life-saving surgery.

As a result, his bandmates cancelled the remainder of their 50 Heavy Metal Years tour.

But now Faulkner is on the mend, the rockers have announced they are hitting the road again - with Queensryche as support - in March (22).

Judas Priest were also booked to tour the U.K. and Europe with Ozzy Osbourne in 2022, but the former Black Sabbath star recently postponed those dates for a second time.

Frontman Rob Halford previously admitted he was shaken by his bandmate's near-fatal health scare.

He recalled, "It's just incredible that he got through that song and he came to the dressing room and he got changed. Even after the paramedics told him he needs to go (to) the hospital and get a proper look at the stuff, he was like, 'Yeah, I'll be back. I'm going home for a couple days after this show, I'll see you guys in Denver', and walked out the door and then probably less than an hour later he was having over 10 hours of heart surgery. It's just unbelievable."

Meanwhile, Faulkner said, "Luckily, it was about half way into the song, so obviously, I had to finish the song. If I had known how important it was, maybe I would have got off there a bit quicker. But I think that's the whole point for me. I had no idea whatsoever what it was. Luckily, it was a short set, and we would have come off stage anyway. Otherwise, I don't know I would have come off stage."
