Set for release in February 2022, 'Earthling' will be the Pearl Jam frontman's first solo album in 11 years that features Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer, as well as producer Andrew Watt.

AceShowbiz - Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will release his first solo album in 11 years, backed by a band featuring former Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer.

"Earthling", which is set for release in February 11, 2022, will feature Eddie's new band, The Earthlings, which also includes producer and guitarist Andrew Watt, who provided Vedder with a home studio base in Los Angeles.

"We just started messing around," Watt told Variety. "There was something there right away that I wanted to chase and finish. It was just the right place and the right time and it all happened very organically. It sounds like people playing together in a room, which is what a good rock song should be."

Vedder also recently worked on the soundtrack to Sean Penn's new movie "Flag Day", recording a cover of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" with Tom Morello and Bruce Springsteen. He also appeared on Elton John's "The Lockdown Sessions" LP.

News of Vedder's new album comes as he drops the project's second single, "The Haves", on Thursday, November 18. Meanwhile, Klinghoffer recently became a member of Pearl Jam, joining the band for gigs in America.

As for Pearl Jam's hiatus, Vedder previously told The Bill Simmons Podcast, "We're kind of reclusive by nature. So, in some ways it feels normal to be away from people, that's not necessarily out of my wheelhouse…but I just keep thinking that first time we'll be in front of people, it's even hard to imagine when or how, it's going to be different. It's not like we didn't appreciate it before, it's just even tenfold."
