AceShowbiz - There's no need to battle it out to be the new Sexiest Man Alive. Chris Evans has reportedly been chosen by People magazine to take the crown this year and will be gracing the magazine's cover of its special annual edition.
The official announcement will reportedly only be made next week, but multiple sources tell Page Six that the Captain America depicter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has indeed landed the coveted title. "Chris was in discussions to take the cover last year, but it was not great timing," a source tells the site.
Chris might have been the Sexiest Man Alive in 2020 had it not been because of his nude picture scandal. Last September, he accidentally uploaded an NSFW image while posting on his Instagram Stories a video of himself and some friends playing Heads Up. It's unknown though who the man in the photo is as he swiftly deleted it.
Chris' Marvel co-star Mark Ruffalo and his brother Scott Evans later took to Twitter to roast him over the leaked penis pic. The 40-year-old hunk, meanwhile, used the attention surrounding the viral moment to urge fans to vote. "Now that I have your attention…. VOTE Nov 3rd!!!!" he tweeted at the time.
Chris once again addressed the blunder on "The Tamron Hall Show". "That's called turning a frown upside down," he said in October 2020, before admitting, "It was... an interesting weekend full of lessons learned...lot of teachable moments... you know, things happen. It's embarrassing."
Sources at PEOPLE, however, insist that the nude picture scandal had nothing to do with the "Knives Out" star not being named the 2020 Sexiest Man Alive.
The crown was eventually given to Michael B. Jordan last year. Earlier this year, the "Black Panther" star revealed his friends were "consistently" teasing him about his title. "Everything I do, it's like, 'Ooh, Sexiest Man Alive. He uses a straw. Oh my God! He opened that can. Sexiest Man. So sexy.' The harassment doesn't stop," he said in April.
