The 'Hellboy' actress reveals in her documentary that she was told she was dying and wouldn't make it when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Actress Selma Blair was told to get ready to die when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018.

The "Hellboy" star makes the shocking revelation in her new documentary, "Introducing, Selma Blair", which is now out in U.S. cinemas and on streaming site discovery+, but she admits she has come a long way since then and now feels like "a new person."

By 2019, the mum-of-one was so incapacitated by her MS, which affects the nervous system, she could hardly walk or talk. But a high-risk hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, which took two months, has changed everything.

"(I) was told to make plans for dying," Selma says in the film, adding, "It was a really hard time in my life. People don't say how excruciating, emotionally, it can be to kind of prove you're not well. But I want to tell the truth about MS. It is important to me that people see what living with a chronic illness is like."

The treatment has made huge improvements to her health although she's often exhausted and could use more energy to keep up with her 10-year-old son, Arthur.

"The severe fatigue is still such a gargantuan boulder in my way," she explains. "I'm working on it. Little by little, I can do all these things. I mean, I can't say I could go running, but I can jog down to the mailbox if I were to practice a few times."

Mostly, she's just trying to stay as upbeat as she can. "I'm trying to develop a love story with life right now," she smiles. "Things are coming along for sure. I really do feel like a new person."
