The 'Rolling in the Deep' hitmaker releases the first single from her much-anticipated album '30' along with an accompanying promo directed by Xavier Dolan.

AceShowbiz - Adele launched her comeback at midnight on Friday, October 15 in the U.K. with the release of her new single, "Easy On Me", and it's accompanying video.

Her first new song in five years - and the first single from her much-anticipated album "30" - the piano-led ballad, co-produced and co-written with Greg Kurstin, dropped with a video directed by Xavier Dolan, who also took charge of the singer's "Hello" promo.

Speaking about the video, Dolan said, "For me, there's nothing stronger than artists reconnecting after years apart. I've changed. Adele's changed. And this is an opportunity to celebrate how we've both evolved, and how we've also both remained faithful to our dearest themes. It's all the same, but different."

The new film kicks off with a nod to the "Hello" video, with Adele trying to reach someone on a cell phone as she leaves a home she is selling, explaining, "Everything is packed." She then loses connection and jokes, "Here we go again," before driving off as the song begins.

As she drives along country lanes with the last of her belongings, singing along to the new tune, sheet music flies out of her car.

The black-and-white promo becomes rich and velvety as Adele sits in an airy room with the wind and sheet music flying about her.

The song was one of many she wrote as her marriage to ex-husband Simon Konecki crumbled, and it appears director Dolan summoned up all the sadness, mess, despair and hope Adele felt at the time for the video.

In a lengthy statement shared on social media earlier this month (October 2021), Adele admitted she threw herself "into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil" when she started working on the tracks for her fourth album, which will be released on November 19.

"I've learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way," she said. "I've shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones."

"Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I've finally found my feeling again. I'd go so far as to say that I've never felt more peaceful in my life. And so, I'm ready to finally put this album out. [My album] was my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life. When I was writing it, it was my friend who came over with a bottle of wine and a takeaway to cheer me up. My wise friend who always gives the best advice.

"And then that friend who no matter what, checked in on me even though I'd stopped checking in with them because I'd become so consumed by my own grief. I've painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then and this album narrates it. Home is where the heart is."

But the promo ends on a comedy note as Adele pretends to be blown away by the wind machine and then cackles as the crew crack up.
