AceShowbiz - Priyanka Chopra has left fans speculating whether she purposely ignored Prince William and Kate Middleton at Wimbledon. Regardless, the former "Quantico" star earned praises from internet users for the alleged snub.
A video surfacing on Twitter saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arriving at the tournament on Saturday, July 10. The 38-year-old Indian native, meanwhile, was seated two rows behind the royal couple.
While the crowd applauded William and Kate as they took their seats, Priyanka chose to re-adjust her scarf instead. The wife of singer Nick Jonas, who is a good friend of Meghan Markle, then looked away from the pair.
Priyanka's move was met with positive feedback from many Twitter users. One in particular raved, "I love her.. I love that she is true to her friend and knows what kind of racists the two are." Another added, "Clapping for racists who drove her friend out the country? Priyanka said no thanks."
A third individual tweeted, "The legend said f**k them racists and continued her business like a queen." Someone else then chimed in, "I think she can definitely tell and smell a racist when they enter the room. #racistwilliam and undercover #meangirlkate."
This came after William came under fire for condemning racism against English black soccer players, including Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka. "I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night's match," he tweeted after England lost 3-2 to Italy in the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship on Sunday.
"It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behaviour," the brother of Prince Harry went on. "It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable. W."
Many have since labeled William "hypocrite" because he decided to stay mum when it came to his sister-in-law's racism allegations in the Palace. "Willy is a hypocrite, racist and not to be trusted. Why not speak out when his brothers wife was be crucified by trashy tabs and brf?" one person argued.
"Prince William is a hypocrite. I'm sickened by his performative tweets abt racism. There are still 2+ year old & 4+ year old racist comments on his social media accounts abusing Archie & Meghan," another stressed. "Comments about his alleged affair & his wife's Botox use have been removed."
