AceShowbiz - Former Versace mansion has become the scene of another bloody incident. Two men were found dead at the hotel room of The Villa Casa Casuarina, which used to be the home of the late Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace, in Miami.
According to authorities, officers were called to the hotel on 1116 Ocean Dr. just after 1:20 P.M. on Wednesday, July 14 after a hotel housekeeper found two deceased males inside a room. Miami Beach Fire Rescue personnel also responded to the hotel and found the two victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say at this time, the scene is contained to the hotel room. No other details were immediately releases as the deaths are currently being investigated. The hotel has not released a statement on the matter, but operations have since returned to normal at the hotel as police say there was no threat to the public.
Meanwhile, people around the hotel said on Wednesday afternoon they had no idea about the discovery that had been made. A customer named Melanie Rog said, "It was surprising," adding that she found it "not pleasant."
Gianni Versace bought the building for $2.95 million and the Hotel Revere next door in 1992. He splurged $32 millions to renovate the properties to add a swimming pool, garden, south wing and turn the 24 apartments inside into large suites, the hotel said.
The famed Italian designer was assassinated by gunman Andrew Cunanan outside the mansion on July 15, 1997. He died at the age of 50. It's unclear if the 2 deaths have any connection to the macabre anniversary.
In 2000, Gianni's sister Donatella Versace sold the property. It was then turned into The Villa Casa Casuarina, a luxury boutique hotel with 10 guest rooms.
