AceShowbiz - Cecily Strong has teased her future on "Saturday Night Live". When asked whether she will return in the next season of the NBC sketch show, the actress portraying Jennifer Lynch in "Ghostbusters" said, "[let's] see what happens."
"Things are a bit more up in the air and I'm okay with that," the 37-year-old admitted when speaking to Entertainment Tonight. "My lesson from last year is sort of see what happens."
During the interview where she promoted her new Apple TV+ musical comedy "Schmigadoon!", Cecily claimed she will "be thrilled if [she goes] back," but will be feel the same way "if that was [her] last show." The comedienne, who first joined the sketch show as a featured player for season 38 in 2012, further shared, "I feel good either way."
This came after Cecily, along with co-stars Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson and Aidy Bryant, sparked exit rumors in late May. At that time, they delivered the cold open together in the season 46 finale.
Also, the 27-year-old funnyman closed out the "Weekend Update" segment of the episode by saying, "I'm very grateful to be here and it's been an honor to grow up in front of you guys."
"The King of Staten Island" star then added more fuel to his exit rumors when he was participating in The Hollywood Reporter's Comedy Actor roundtable with Ted Danson, Ed Helms, Lamorne Morris, Ben Platt and his fellow "SNL" star Chris Redd. When he and Chris were asked whether they would be on "SNL" for 18 seasons like Kenan, Chris first answered, "I would never do 18 seasons."
Upon hearing his co-star's reply, the former fiance of Ariana Grande then agreed, "Yeah, I'm good." He went on to share, "I'm surprised I made it to seven. I'm ready to hang up the jersey… Kenan's likef**kin' Karl Malone out there."
