The 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' actor is thrilled as he has officially signed a deal to turn his play 'Dot' into a new television dramedy series called 'West Philly, Baby'.

AceShowbiz - Actor Colman Domingo has landed a deal to take his hit play "Dot" from the stage to the screen as a new comedy/drama series.
The "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" star will adapt the story himself, and serve as director and executive producer of the show, titled "West Philly, Baby".
According to U.S. studio officials at AMC, the series will follow "a Philadelphia family forced to grapple with their matriarch's declining memory amidst uncovering long held family secrets that shake the foundation of their home."
The show description continues, "Midlife crises, troubling revelations, childhood trauma, and complications of Alzheimer's make for an American family story set in the heart of one of the country's oldest and most historically significant cities."
Production on the six half-hour episodes will begin early next year (22) and air on the studio's streaming service ALLBLK.
In a statement, a thrilled Domingo shares, "West Philly, Baby is straight from my heart. It is a love letter to Black families and communities."
"It is about our collective memory and our hope for where we are going in the future. It holds many generations, genders, sexualities, races, and beliefs. It holds plenty of dark humor which is the key to everyone's survival in my world."

Domingo, who previously starred on AMC's "The Walking Dead" spin-off series "Fear the Walking Dead", has a first-look deal with AMC Studios officials via his Edith Productions company.
