The Hermione Granger of 'Harry Potter' movie franchise is officially announced to lead the Sustainability Committee of the Board at French mammoth fashion company Kering.

AceShowbiz - Emma Watson has joined the board of French fashion giant Kering to chair its sustainability committee.

Bosses at Kering, the parent company of top fashion houses including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga, announced Emma's appointment in a press release on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 alongside former Credit Suisse boss Tidjane Thiam and Jean Liu, the head of Didi Chuxing Technology, also known as "the Chinese Uber."

The "Harry Potter" star, who will act as Chair of the Sustainability Committee of the Board at Kering, is a strong supporter of eco-friendly sustainable fashion, and is the face of the Good On You app, which rates brands on the ethical and green credentials of their business.

The app has previously rated some of Kering's top brands poorly, branding them "Not good enough" or "It's a start" on their ratings scale.

In a press release, the firm's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer François-Henri Pinault hailed all three appointees for their "respective knowledge and competences" plus their diverse "perspectives."

"The collective intelligence that comes from diverse points of view and the richness of different experiences are crucial to the future of our organisation. I am proud to add such impressive talents to the team," he said.

Emma's new role was first proposed at the firm's Annual General Meeting in March.
