AceShowbiz - Melania Trump reportedly renegotiated her prenuptial agreement with Donald Trump while delaying her move to the White House in 2017. At the time, it was widely reported that the First Lady stayed behind in New York City after her husband assumed the presidency and moved to Washington to allow their son Barron to finish the school year.
But apparently there's more to the story. According to a new book, "The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump", by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan, the First Lady used the move as a leverage to "amend her financial agreement with Trump -- what Melania referred to as 'taking care of Barron.' "
According to the book's writer, staying behind in New York gave Melania time to cool off after the controversy surrounding her husband's alleged sexual indiscretions and gave her added bargaining power to improve the prenup, which originally had not been that generous. But she had been with the former reality TV star longer that any of his ex-wives and she had a great "calming effect" on Trump, so that at least one of his adult children allegedly asked that she come to the White House as soon as possible.
Mary writes in her book that the amended prenup ensured that Barron would not be shut out of the family business. "She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump's oldest three children," reads a part of the book.
A spokeswoman for Melania has disputed the claims in book, though. "Yet another book about Mrs. Trump with false information and sources. This book belongs in the fiction genre," said her chief of staff Stephanie Grisham.
"The Art of Her Deal" is set to hit the shelves on June 16.
