Gemma Whelan Recalls Difficulty in Keeping Daughter Away From Coronavirus-Infected Husband

When announcing that Gerry Howell has tested negative for COVID-19, the former 'Game of Thrones' star admits that her husband's battle with the virus 'got pretty scary' at some point.

AceShowbiz - Former "Game of Thrones" star Gemma Whelan is celebrating after learning her husband has tested negative for the coronavirus.

Gerry Howell, the father of the Brit's two-year-old daughter Frances, fell ill with the killer virus recently and Gemma admits she wasn't convinced he'd pull through at first.

"It got pretty scary," she tells You magazine. "By day five he was still really unwell and I wondered, 'Is this the time I need to make a call?' but thankfully that was the low point."

The 39-year-old "Killing Eve" actress also believes she and her daughter fell ill with the virus, but they were never tested.

"Frances and I had a few days of coughing so I think we've also had it but mildly," she explains, admitting one of the worst things about her husband's health battle was explaining to their daughter why daddy was isolating in a spare bedroom.

"Tracking back, it was fairly inevitable that he would have had contact with the virus because he works opposite King's College Hospital, where the first London cases were. He didn't feel well so he went into the spare room. I put trays of food outside the door and neighbours kindly sent us round oranges, vitamin C and paracetamol. But the hardest thing was trying to keep our two-year-old daughter Frances out of his room and telling her that she had to stay away from daddy."
