During an appearance on comedian Chris Spencer and his wife Vanessa Spencer's Instagram Live show with her husband, the 'Soul Food' alum talks about missing 'the single life.'

AceShowbiz - Nicole Ari Parker and husband Boris Kodjoe recently made an appearance on comedian Chris Spencer and his wife Vanessa Spencer's Instagram Live show "Date Night". During the live chat, the couple talked about their relationship and at some point, Nicole made an eyebrow-raising comment when she wished that Boris was her boyfriend again.

"Some time within the last year or so I thought I wished that he was my boyfriend again," Nicole, who will celebrate her 15th wedding anniversary with Boris next month, explained. "I don't necessarily want to be single but I miss the single life. I miss the text messages for no reason. I miss the coming up from behind me when I'm scrambling eggs and just kissing me on the back of the neck."

"I'm being general here but there's the trappings of being single," she went on to say. "You two are really good looking people and you're married, and we're married. There's people that flirt with you, and the part of the flirtation doesn't necessarily make you go wayward, but part of the flirtation that even makes you look at your phone, or even in your workspace, is that they have like a freshness or a newness."

The "Soul Food" alum added, "I personally believe that if you're in it for the long hall that freshness and newness is still possible if you talk about it. I know we talk about date night, we need to go have a date night. I know we talk about kissing and texting for no reason, but the last you texted me was over the cabinet guy."

The comments apparently didn't sit well with some people. "Them braids are pulling her thoughts?" one fan asked. "He looked so uncomfortable but kept his composure. I just think certain things in a relationship need to be kept private," one fan noted about Boris' expression throughout the clip.

"Sis if you don't want Boris, you can send him my way," another fan offered. One person, meanwhile, felt that "she shoulda told him this in private."

However, Boris wouldn't let anyone criticize his wife and their relationship. "When you can't believe all the #QuarantineCrazy chitchat. Come on y'all, really?! ??? ?? #OkFirstOfAll you're chomping on a short clickbait slice of a HILARIOUS HOUR LONG conversation on our best friends' new show," he explained in an Instagram post on Tuesday, April 14. "#SecondOfAll this part was meant to give hope to those of us who've been together a LONGA$$Time #RealTalk."

"And #ThirdOfAll, my wife was right!#boyfriendgirlfriendtimematters #TakeCareOfEachOther #ShowEachOther#LoveEachOther #TommorrowIsNotPromised #InItForTheLongHaul ????? And please don't tag me in anymore of this #BullSh@&$. I'll be over here kissing the back of @nicoleariparker’s neck for no reason," he concluded.
