It was initially announced that the theme park in Anaheim, and its neighbouring California Adventure, were to close until the end of the month, with Disney World in Florida implementing similar measures.

AceShowbiz - Disneyland will remain closed indefinitely amid the coronavirus pandemic, park officials have confirmed.

Earlier this month (Mar20), it was announced Disneyland in Anaheim, and its neighbouring California Adventure, were to close until the end of the month, with Disney World in Orlando, Florida implementing similar measures.

In a new statement, however, it has been confirmed the locations will not reopen their doors on 1 April, as they previously hoped, due to the global health crisis.

"While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains The Walt Disney Company’s top priority," Disney Parks officials said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"As a result of this unprecedented pandemic and in line with direction provided by health experts and government officials, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed until further notice."

The statement also revealed that hourly employees will be paid through to 18 April. It comes as Universal Studios announced earlier this week that its theme parks will also remain closed until 19 April.
