AceShowbiz - Authorities have released graphic footage of the shooting death of actress Vanessa Marquez by police. A body camera video obtained by KTLA captured the tense moment when the "ER" alum was visited by cops for a welfare check in August 2018.

The video shows police entering Vanessa's South Pasadena home and finding her lying in bed. Her body was twitching and she told cops that she had just suffered a seizure, which was triggered by an eating disorder. A mental health clinician spoke to her for about 30 minutes and asked about whether she took her medication, before they decided that she should be placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold because she was a danger to herself and others.

An officer explained her rights, but Vanessa refused to go to the hospital. "We've already had this discussion and it's beyond that now, OK?" the officer told her. Vanessa replied, "I'm not going." She then pulled a gun, prompting the police to pull back.

As the cops ordered her to drop the gun, she yelled back, "Kill me." Moments later, when the police were already retreating downstairs, Vanessa was seen at the top of the stairs, pointing her gun at the police. That's when police fired 12 shots.

Vanessa was killed in the confrontation. Cops then recovered her weapon, which turned out to be a replica.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has announced that the officers involved in the shooting will not face any criminal charges. According to a memo from the D.A.’s office, it was determined that officers Gilberto Carrillo and Christopher Perez with the South Pasadena Police Department acted legally.

"Perez first saw the gun in Marquez's left hand as she exited her apartment and crossed the landing. Like Carrillo, Perez also heard the sound of a firearm magazine being loaded, and looked to other officers who acknowledged the sound," the district attorney's office said in the memo. "Perez observed Marquez descending the staircase in what he perceived to be an aggressive manner, 'definitely angry' and 'charging' at them with the handgun drawn."

The D.A. concludes the officers acted in self-defense as Vanessa "posed an imminent threat to their lives." The memo stated, "Based on all the available evidence and the foregoing analysis, we find that Officers Carrillo and Perez acted in lawful self-defense and defense of others."

At the time, police visited Vanessa's apartment after her landlord had called police, saying he was worried about the actress' well being. In February 2019, her mother filed a wrongful death claim against the City of South Pasadena, California.

The actress was best known for playing Wendy Goldman on "ER" from 1994 to 1997. She also appeared in a 1992 episode of "Seinfeld", guest-starred on "Melrose Place" and had a recurring role on "Malcolm & Eddie".
