AceShowbiz - YG's lawyer has spoken up following the rapper's arrest at his Southern California home on robbery charges. Joe Tapicona has issued a statement denying that the accusations leveled against his client, who apparently also has no idea why he was taken into custody.
Joe said in the statement, "This arrest is one that caught YG completely off guard because there is no truth to them. YG has no idea what investigators are talking about and we have not been provided with any details. We are learning about this case through the media." Concluding the statement, Joe assured the rapper's fans that he "will be cleared of all charges, if they even survive past the arraignment."
YG was taken into custody on early Friday morning after getting a surprise visit from cops before sunrise at 4 A.M. They came with a search warrant related to an on-going criminal investigation involving a robbery and detained the "Go Loko" rapper after inspecting his home. He is currently being held on $250,000 ball at the Men's Central Jail and is expected in court for arraignment on January 28.
Following his arrest, The Game took to Twitter to express his suspicions and called out the LAPD. He wrote on the bluebird app, "Funny how @YG gets arrested the weekend of the Grammy's when he's supposed to hit the stage in Nip's honor." Through a hashtag, he then dubbed the authorities "the biggest gang here."
YG is set to join DJ Khaled, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and Kirk Franklin for Nipsey Hussle tribute performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26.
Calling the late rapper a "lasting impact on not just his community, but also the culture at large," Ken Enrich said, "There is no denying the influence he had and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. We are honored to bring together this amazing group of artists to celebrate Nipset's life and pay tribute to his many contributions to music. It's sure to be a memorable performance."
