Artist of the Week: Mariah Carey
Music

Due to a string of Christmas hits, including her 'All I Want for Christmas Is You', the New York-born songstress has been given the Queen of Christmas title.

AceShowbiz - It's a known fact that Mariah Carey is blessed with beautiful voice that's capable of melting anyone's hearts who hear it. However, it's also worth noting that it isn't the only thing that the singer is known for. Thanks to her mega hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You", MiMi is considered by many people as the Queen of Christmas.

Released on October 29, 1994, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" continues to surge in popularity and remains her biggest international success, becoming the best selling Christmas single by a female artist overall. Just recently, the song won three records in Guinness World Records for one of the best-selling and most recognizable Christmas songs, most streamed song on Spotify in 24 hours and most weeks in the U.K. singles top chart for a Christmas song.

Obviously, the mega hit isn't the only reason why MiMi is given the Queen of Christmas title. Her 1994 holiday album, "Merry Christmas", has sold more than 15 million copies and is the best-selling Christmas album of all time. The album was recently re-released for its 25th anniversary, and many people were surely loving it because it debuted within the top ten of Billboard 200.

Besides the original songs from the album, the re-released version of "Merry Christmas" featured a slew of her other Christmas singles, including the record-breaking "Oh Santa!". Making its way out in October 2010, the song set a record on Billboard's Adult Contemporary songs chart as it topped the list in two weeks. Naturally, it also ruled Billboard's Holiday Digital Songs chart.

Considering how many Christmas hits she has, it comes to no surprise that her annual Christmas tour has always been successful. This year, the trek started on November 22 in Las Vegas and wrapped up on December 15 in New York.
