It's officially announced that the filming for the live-action scenes of James Cameron's highly-anticipated movie has finally completed after the project was stalled numerous times.

AceShowbiz - Live-action filming for James Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar" sequel has wrapped, the movie's official Twitter account confirmed.

The movie launched in 2009 and quickly became the highest grossing movie of all time - only to be knocked off the summit by "Avengers: Endgame" earlier this year.

While fans have anxiously been waiting for the highly teased second instalment of the franchise, on Friday, November 29 its social media accounts confirmed it's well on the way - announcing that live action filming on the big-budget CGI film has wrapped for 2019.

"That's a wrap, Na'vi Nation!" it posted alongside of the Sea Dragon mothership from the upcoming flick. "It's our last day of live-action filming in 2019, and we're celebrating with a sneak peek."

The post prompted one fan to ask if that meant a trailer was coming soon, however those behind the account replied, "Unfortunately not any time soon (sorry!)."

Director James Cameron had originally planned for "Avatar 2" to be released in December 2020 but the amount of visual effects needed, as well as the sale of Twentieth Century Fox to Disney, has pushed the release back to December 2021.

It will be the first of five planned sequels and reunites the original cast of Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, and Sigourney Weaver while Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Cliff Curtis, and Edie Falco will join the cast.
