Celebrities helping fans propose is a common thing, but personally popping the question for fans? It surely is not. That was what actor Tom Hanks was willing to do for his fans at the Texas Book Festival in Austin where he was promoting his new book, "Uncommon Type: Some Stories".
The "Forrest Gump" star did the surprise on behalf of a fan named Ryan McFarling during the Q&A portion. "Here's Ryan's question, and it's for Nikki Young," Tom read the question to the crowd, before adding, "Nikki, will you marry me?" The pair then joined the "Big" actor onstage before Nikki Young burst into tears when Ryan got down on one knee and proposed.
