Along with her duet with Donald Glover 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?', the new song will be included on the soundtrack album of the upcoming live action adaptation.

AceShowbiz - Before "The Lion King" hits theaters across the nation, Beyonce Knowles has blessed fans with a new single entitled "Spirit" that serves as the soundtrack to the live action adaptation. The song was released on Tuesday night, July 9, following the exclusive premiere of the movie at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.

Beyonce shows off her fantastic vocals on the song as she is backed by a group of choir. She can be heard singing on the song, "Saying rise up to the light in the sky/ Watch the light lift your heart up/ Burn your flame through the night/ Woah, spirit/ Watch the heavens open, yeah/ Spirit, can you hear it calling? Yeah."

Co-written by Ilya Salmanzadeh and Timothy McKenzie, "Spirit" will be included on "The Lion King" soundtrack album that Beyonce curates. Also featuring her duet with Donald Glover "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?", the album is expected to be released on July 11.

Beyonce said of the album in a statement, "This is sonic cinema. This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn't one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat."

"I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline. Each song was written to reflect the film's storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation," the singing diva continued. "It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me."

"The Lion King" is slated to premiere on July 19 in the United States.
