The 22-year-old defensive lineman's manager Malki Kawa confirms that the athlete 'suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm,' during the accident in Miami.

AceShowbiz - NFL player Kendrick Norton had a tragic Fourth of July. The 22-year-old defensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins lost an arm in a horrific car accident on early Thursday, July 4 in Miami.

Lt. Alex Camacho said Kendrick was driving in the early morning hours of July 4 on State Road 836, also called the Dolphin Expressway, a 15-mile stretch of highway that cuts across Miami. His Ford F-250 struck a concrete barrier wall for "unknown reasons" and flipped over, coming to a stop on its roof.

According to police dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, EMT personnel requested a Heavy 1, a tow truck, to lift the vehicle. It appears that his arm was pinned underneath the car. An operator is heard saying in the audio record, "Cannot reach the amputator [or amputated] arm," suggesting that the arm may have been severed at the scene. They eventually canceled the request for the Heavy 1 because fire and rescue personnel were able to free the arm.

A video shows Kendrick and a female companion being transported to a nearby hospital. Kendrick's condition looked serious. His head appeared to be bleeding through his bandage, while his left arm was wrapped in a big bandage. The female passenger also appeared to suffer injuries to her head and hand. She looked disheveled, but conscious when arriving at the hospital.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Kendrick is in critical condition in the trauma unit at Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, but is expected to live.

Kendrick's agent, Malki Kawa of First Round Management, has confirmed reports of the athlete's injuries. "With sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm," he tweeted. "We ask that you continue to pray for him. His family also asks that the public respect Kendrick's privacy."

The Dolphins also released a statement addressing Kendrick's car accident, "We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time."

Kendrick played college football at the University of Miami. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers during the 2018 NFL Draft and was signed to the practice squad. The Dolphins claimed him off the Panthers' practice squad late last season.
