AceShowbiz - New details have emerged about what caused the end of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's relationship. After it was reported that they had talked about marriage before they called it quits last month, it's now said that they were not on the same page about plans to start a family.
According to The Sunday Express, the rocker and his then-girlfriend were "arguing for months" about starting a family together, as the 29-year-old actress simply "wasn't ready to have children." The 42-year-old singer allegedly wanted to "settle down" and start a family with Dakota, but she was "nowhere near ready for that."
"Chris made it clear he wants more kids as soon as possible but Dakota's career has really taken off and that's the last thing she wanted to think about right away," an alleged friend told the site. "It got to the point, last month, where a light seemed to flick on in both their heads and they realized they were pulling in completely opposite directions - so they decided to call it a day."
The so-called insider added, "Both she and Chris are broken-hearted that things didn't work out because they made a fantastic couple."
The Sun first broke the news of the couple's split a few days ago. "Chris and Dakota were very easygoing and always seemed really happy together," a friend allegedly told the site. "There was talk of engagement but now he says they have gone their separate ways, which has come as a real surprise to everyone."
The former couple dated for 20 months and was last pictured together in April when she was picking him up after a hike in Malibu, CA. The news came as a shock to their close friends since they seemed to get along just fine. Dakota is even close to Chris' ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow as they hung out together last Thanksgiving.
Representatives for both Chris and Dakota have not confirmed the split, but a near-neighbor in Malibu said, "I saw a big removal truck outside their place around mid-May, when she moved out. It's such a shame because they really did look as though they were deeply in love with each other and were openly affectionate in public."
