The director of 'A Star Is Born' has reportedly been in negotiations to replace 'The Wolf of Wall Street' actor in the Guillermo del Toro-directed thriller based on William Lindsay Gresham's 1946 novel.

AceShowbiz - Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to replace Leonardo DiCaprio in Guillermo del Toro's upcoming thriller "Nightmare Alley".

"The Wolf of Wall Street" star had initially been linked to the project in April, but it appears he has since walked away from the film, and Cooper is now interested in taking over the lead role, reports Variety.

Del Toro will direct "Nightmare Alley" from a script he co-wrote with Kim Morgan, based on William Lindsay Gresham's novel about a conman who teams up with a psychiatrist to trick people into giving them money.

Production is due to begin this autumn.

Gresham's 1946 book was previously turned into a film starring Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell in 1947.
