All five members of the famous girl group are reportedly 'very involved' with the new Simon Fuller-produced project, which is still in early development at Paramount Animation.

AceShowbiz - The Spice Girls are set to return to the big screen for the first time since their 1997 flick "Spice World" - this time in an animated movie.

According to editors at The Hollywood Reporter, a new Spice Girls movie is in early development at Paramount Animation, which is headed by Mireille Soria, with all five of the group's original members - Emma Bunton, Mel B (Melanie Brown), Mel C (Melanie C), Geri Halliwell and Victoria Adams - reportedly on board.

Soria told The Hollywood Reporter the Spice Girls "had an idea that we've been developing", and insisted "they are very involved" with the project.

Details about the film's plot are not yet known and the movie won't be released until 2020. However, Soria did tease the film will include new songs, as well as the group's '90s classics.

It will be the first film the bandmates have headlined together since the release of smash hit "Spice World", which showed them dealing with the ups and downs of fame and friendship, as they scaled the pop ladder to become the biggest girl group of all time.

Simon Fuller, the band's manager at that time, will produce the new animated film, and the new movie will be written by Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith.

The Spice Girls will play the final three dates of their 13 show "Spice World - 2019 Tour" at London's Wembley Stadium, wrapping up the jaunt on Saturday, June 15.
