Other than his former 'Game of Thrones' co-star, the 'Last Action Hero' actor also recommends 'McMafia' actor James Norton to replace Daniel Craig as the 007 agent.

AceShowbiz - Charles Dance has backed his former "Game of Thrones co-star Richard Madden to be the next James Bond.

The veteran British actor had a minor role in the 1981 007 film "For Your Eyes Only" and turned down the chance to screen test for the iconic Secret Service agent himself after Roger Moore called time on his Bond career in 1985.

Asked in an interview with The Guardian who he thinks should be cast after Daniel Craig quits, he recommended his castmate from the hit HBO series, along with "McMafia" actor James Norton.

"Young Richard Madden is pretty good," he gushes. "Or James Norton. I think Daniel's been fantastic. What he lacks in the wit of Roger Moore he makes up for in a sense of danger."

Charles got the chance to see Richard work up close, as they played rival noblemen Tywin Lannister and Robb Stark in "Game of Thrones", although neither character survived until the recently concluded final season.

The 72-year-old was considered a dishy pin-up in the 1980s due to his role in the British TV period drama "The Jewel in the Crown", but has no regrets he didn't try and take his career to the next level by auditioning to play 007.

"I think I'd have f**ked it up," he said. "It might've gone to my head a bit. When Jewel happened, you couldn't open a paper without reading about me. I was 'the thinking woman's crumpet'. But Bond would've been much bigger. I might've blown it."
