AceShowbiz - Lupita Nyong'o and Janelle Monae have several times shown their close relationship at different occasions, but their recent encounter has sparked rumors that they may be more than just friends. The two stars got exceptionally affectionate during a Met Gala after-party on Monday, May 6.

The romance reports started swirling around as an Instagram Live video shows the "Black Panther" actress and the "Q.U.E.E.N." songstress getting touchy-feely on the dance floor. While another woman, who was excitedly dancing, was front and center in the video, Lupita can be seen whispering something in Janelle's ear in the background. The 33-year-old singer later returned the gesture by caressing and touching Lupita's hair, while Danai Gurira stood next to them oblivious.

Some sources even say that the two ladies left together after the party.

According to Popular Superstars, their relationship is nothing new as Lupita and Janelle have reportedly been hooking up on and off for over a year now. They allegedly got close when "Black Panther" was being filmed in Atlanta in 2017. At the time, the Oscar-winning actress was allegedly at Janelle's house almost every day.

Lupita has been rumored to be interested in both women and men, though she has never publicly talked about her sexuality. It was reported that she dated her "Black Panther" co-star Danai on and off, before she has been with Janelle.

As for Janelle, she opened up in a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone that she identified herself as queer and pansexual. "Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women - I consider myself to be a free-(love proponent)," she said when confirming the then-long-standing rumors. "But then later I read about pansexuality and was like, 'Oh, these are things that I identify with too.' I'm open to learning more about who I am."
