The 'Umbrella' songstress stars as Glover's love interest in the music-driven film from 'Atlanta' director Hiro Murai and inspired by 'Purple Rain' and 'City of God'.

AceShowbiz - Rihanna's mystery project with Donald Glover has finally been revealed. Titled "Guava Island", the one-hour movie is directed by Hiro Murai, who directed many episodes of Emmy-winning series "Atlanta", which also stars Glover.

In the music-driven film, the Barbadian beauty stars as Glover's on-screen girlfriend. The first teaser released for the movie doesn't show much of their characters or the storyline, but Rihanna's Kofi is seen rocking a colorful outfit, unloading her bag near the ocean and performing some traditional dance moves with Glover's Deni.

The movie follows Deni, a happy-go-lucky singer who believes that music has the power to unite the squabbling citizens of his tiny island. According to the New York Times, in one scene Deni tries to woo Kofi by promising to write a song as beautiful as she is. Kofi doesn't believe that a song could compare to her beauty, saying, "No song is that beautiful."

Nonso Anozie stars as a shady tycoon named Red, who tries to prevent Deni from putting on a music festival. He reasons that if people go to see Deni's show that night, they're liable to skip work at Red's sweatshops the next day.

The song features many of remix versions of Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino's songs, including "This Is America", "Saturday" and "Summertime Magic".

The film was shot last summer on location in Havana, Cuba. "I'm really humbled having the opportunity to present something this timely and timeless," Glover said of the film's release in a statement. "Between Rihanna and the people of Cuba, this is one of my favorite projects I've ever worked on."

The "Community" alum previously said that "Guava Island" was inspired by films like "Purple Rain" and "City of God". Letitia Wright ("Black Panther") also stars in the movie as Yara.

"Guava Island" begins streaming for free for 18 hours on Saturday, April 12 at 12:01 A.M. PT on Amazon Prime Video. Starting Saturday, April 13 at 6 P.M. ET, the movie can be streamed for Amazon Prime Video customers only.
