Before supporting act Sounds of The Fortunes confirm the scrapping of the U.K. tour, the Billingham Forum in Teesside and Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen have axed the 'Hold Me' singer's planned shows.

AceShowbiz - Veteran popstar P.J. Proby has cancelled his entire upcoming U.K. "Farewell Tour", after coming under fire for boasting that he only likes dating teenage girls.

The Texas-born star, 80, was set to play a string of 20 gigs across the U.K. through May and June, but has since cancelled all scheduled appearances.

The Billingham Forum in Teesside, England, and Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen, Wales, were the first venues to pull the plug on the planned shows. The whole tour has since been scrapped, with support act Sounds of The Fortunes confirming the news on their website, where they simply wrote: "PJ PROBY TOUR CANCELLED."

The disgraced star, who had a string of U.K. hits in the 1960s with songs like "Hold Me", "Together", and "Somewhere", faced strong backlash after claiming that he's been single for two decades because he "won't marry a girl he can't raise from the age of 12, 13 or 14."

"They're still in school so I can have a hand in their education and make sure their grades are all right, make sure the way they think about religion is all right, and what is and isn't proper," he said.

Despite admitting that his desires are "illegal," Proby stood by his words, and went on to confess that he was good friends with a number of renowned British sex offenders, including the late Jimmy Savile, who was exposed as one of Britain's worst sexual predators after his death, and publicist Max Clifford, who was himself imprisoned for sex crimes before his death in 2017.
