AceShowbiz - We've known "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" movies and novels, and now it's time to get to know the man behind the famous works. "Tolkien", a biographical drama of author J.R.R. Tolkien, has got its first teaser trailer debuted online for viewing pleasure ahead of its summer release.

The video features Nicholas Hoult as young Tolkien, who shares his idea for the story that would later become one of the best-selling fantasy novels. "It's a story about journeys," he says. "The journeys we take to prove ourselves."

It's about "magic beyond anything anyone has ever felt before," he continues in voiceover as he's seen dancing with Lily Collins' Edith Bratt. "... about what it is to love and to be loved," "about courage" and "about fellowship."

Glimpses of Tolkien at war, hanging with his friends, as well as Edith dancing in the forest also flash in the less-than-one-minute footage as they all are inspirations behind his famous novels.

According to the official logline, "Tolkien" explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the "fellowship" apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

The movie is directed by Dome Karukoski, with the script written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. Colm Meaney, Tom Glynn-Carney and Anthony Boyle also join the cast of the film, which eyes a May 10 release in the United States.

"The hobbits are just what I should like to have been but never was - an entirely unmilitary people who always came up to scratch in a clinch," the author, whose complete name was John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, once said about his creation of the Shire and it's furry-footed inhabitants.
