Admitting that she was 'mortified' by the accidental snubbing, the 'Aquaman' actress reveals that they later joked about it.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman and Rami Malek have apparently put their awkward encounter on the 2019 Golden Globes stage behind them. In fact, the "Big Little Lies" star disclosed in an interview that she and the "Bohemian Rhapsody" lead actor managed to find the funny side of her accidental snub that has since become viral.

When asked to comment on the January 6 incident, the 51-year-old actress told Entertainment Tonight about what happened after it caught people's attention. "He sent me an email. I sent him an email," she explained on the red carpet of the 24th Annual Critics' Choice Awards. "We were laughing, actually."

Though so, the "Boy Erased" actress admitted she was "mortified" by the captured scene where she seemed to give the 37-year-old actor a cold shoulder. "We're really good friends. I just did not feel his hand on my back," she clarified, before adding, "I love that man. He's so gentle and softly spoken. He's a darling."

Earlier at the same event, Malek also weighed in on the incident. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he called the snubbing speculations "ridiculous." He further stressed, "She's been a friend for a long time, and that's why the whole thing I find absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. But I'm having a laugh about it all."

"I got up there, and I was in such a daze I don't even know how I put together a collection of words that sounded coherent," he went on to share his side of the story. "So the fact that I knew Nicole [was there], I was like, 'Oh, here's a bit of safety.' And then she just didn't see me. It was as simple as that."

The viral incident itself took place at the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards when "Bohemian Rhapsody" won Best Motion Picture prize which was presented by Kidman. Having just accepted his Best Actor gong, Malek stepped back onto the stage and extended his hands towards Kidman. She, however, unknowingly turned away.

Days later, Malek made an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", and was quick to joke, "I feel like this is haunting me on the Internet right now." To host Jimmy Kimmel, he admitted that he hasn't seen the video. He added, "I've known her for many years, despite [what] it may seem from that video, so I thought I could easily go up and say hi but in a moment like that it was... very awkward."
