Demetrius Smith, Kelly's former tour manager, claims that he was there when the two secretly got married in a hotel room.

AceShowbiz - A slew of shocking details about R. Kelly and sexual abuse allegations against him are making their way out through Lifetime's docuseries titled "Surviving R. Kelly". One of them was the shocking revelation that the disgraced revelation forged marriage certificate to marry late singer Aaliyah who was underage at that time.

In the document obtained by The Blast, the marriage certificate was issued by Cook County, Illinois. It claimed that Aaliyah was 18 at the time of her marriage to Kelly, though she was actually 15.

Demetrius Smith, Kelly's former tour manager, said that the decision to forge the marriage paperwork was made because the R&B singer feared he might have impregnated Aaliyah while she was underage.

"Robert came to me, we were in Miami," Smith shared. "Robert said, 'Man we got Aaliyah in trouble.' Robert mentioned to me that 'I think she's pregnant.' That broke my heart right there because I really believed him when he said that he wasn't messing with Aaliyah … Once he told me that I was at a loss for words."

The wedding was held secretly at a hotel room as the wedding was was officiated on August 31, 1994 by Elder Nathan J. Edmond during a religious ceremony in Rosemont, Illinois.

"I was in the room when they got married. I'm not proud of that. I had papers forged for them when Aaliyah was underaged. It was just a quick little ceremony, she didn't have on a white dress he didn't have on a tux. Just every day wear. She looked worried and scared," he went on saying.

The marriage was later made official on September 6, 1994. However, it was reportedly later annulled after Aaliyah's parents filed paperwork.

In the 3-part docuseries, one of the singer's former backup dancers, Jovante Cunningham, also dropped a shocking bombshell. Cunningham claimed that she once witnessed Kelly committing statutory rape against underage Aaliyah.

However, Aaliyah's mom refute claims that her daughter had sex with the musician. The family added that they would not tolerate "lies and fabrications … spewed from the forked tongues of saboteurs of Aaliyah's legacy."
