The former 'Jackass' star, who admitted to have been struggling with alcoholism and bulimia, made the announcement via a post on his social media account on New Year's Eve.

AceShowbiz - Bam Margera has checked into rehab for the third time as he continues his battle against alcoholism.

The former star of "Jackass" and pro skateboarder announced in a post on Instagram on Monday, December 31, 2018, that he was entering treatment once again.

In 2017, Margera admitted he had struggled with alcoholism and bulimia, and he has since completed two stints in rehab - one following an arrest last year for driving under the influence.

"Off to alcohol rehab for the 3rd time," he captioned a shot of himself holding his one-year-old son Phoenix Wolf, whom he shares with his wife, Nicole Boyd. "I am hoping the term 3rd time is a charm is true."

"Thanks to @johnnyschillereff of element skateboards for checking me into alcohol rehab today," he continued. "No phones here, see y'all soon."

Margera shared a snapshot from inside the facility and explained that he will be allowed to use his phone to keep in touch with his family.

"Rehab privileges- having my own bathroom, i can p**s and floss simultaneously, and I get to use my phone an hour a day!" he wrote.

The TV stuntman escaped jail last April after he was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 per cent in February (18) following his arrest in California the previous month. He was detained after he failed a field sobriety test after traffic police officials spotted him using his cellphone while driving and pulled him over.

The 39-year-old received three years' probation and had to attend an alcohol and "live in" programme, Alcohol Anonymous meetings, and pay fines.

Margera's "Jackass" costar Ryan Dunn died in 2011 while driving under the influence of alcohol.
