AceShowbiz - Former U.S. President George W. Bush fought back tears as he eulogised his father, George H. W. Bush, during a funeral service in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, December 06.
Thousands of mourners, including fellow ex-leaders Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and current President Donald Trump, gathered at the National Cathedral to remember the life of America's 41st President, who died on Friday, November 30, aged 94, after a long illness.
His son, who served as the 43rd Commander-in-Chief, delivered an emotional eulogy at the memorial, during which he saluted Bush, Sr. as "the best father a son and daughter could ever have", and praised his political career, while also remembering his dad's sense of humour, energy, and humility.
"He looked for the good in each person, and he usually found it," the 72 year old added.
George W. Bush also recalled his father's final words.
"Last Friday when I was told he had minutes to live, I called him," he told the gathering. "I said 'Dad, I love you and you've been a wonderful father'. And the last words he would ever say on earth were, 'I love you, too'."

The late president's casket, which had been lying in state at the U.S. Capitol in the lead up to his funeral, is now being transported back to his home state of Texas, where he will be buried at his presidential library on the campus of Texas A&M University.
He will be interred close to the final resting place of his wife of 73 years, Barbara Bush, who passed away in April, and their late daughter Robin, who died in 1953 after losing her battle with leukaemia at the age of three.
